The paintings of Gonzalez are created with airbrushed acrylics on panel or canvas. Forms, values and highlighting are created by lifting pigment with an abrasive eraser, followed by the application of transparent layers of pigment. Influenced by idealism in the mystical, visionary and esoteric traditions, the artist describes his work as a contemporary Tantric or Transfigurative Art that explores the dramatic union of the sensual and spiritual. His work is akin to a revival of classical neoplatonic ideals centering on the figure as temple and vessel sublimed by transformative forces.

After earning a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art (BFA) from Pratt Institute, he entered the prosthetics field and began making artificial limbs for amputees in New York. Along with a combined love for sculpture, medical-science, and biomechanics, the field enabled Chris to apply his natural talents to help others in less fortunate situations, which he still does to this day

Philip’s luminous and meticulously detailed digital and traditional oil paintings have classical influences but are purely based on the fantastic. Many images are derived from the ever present surreal worlds that play out in his mind like lucid dreams throughout the day. His visions are inhabited by unique characters and filled with imaginative architecture and lush vegetation that seems to come to life, bursting with vibrant colors and dramatic lighting. Philip focuses on invoking an emotional response from his images through composition, color, light and subject matter. Although a conceptual illustrator at heart, his ability to successfully execute a variety of styles has allowed him to work with an array of clients producing imagery ranging from the dark and fantastic to the playful and charming. Philip’s use of traditional media with 3D and 2D software to create his illustrations, has garnered him international acclaim among a variety of artistic circles. He has been a featured artist numerous times in several publications including; The Society of Illustrators NY and Los Angeles Annuals, Spectrum Fantasy Annuals, Expose’ digital fine art book, and on dozens of digital art websites and forums.

“My work consists of collages of press cuttings. I use paint, spray and other materials to alter their original representation and bring them into new contexts - and thereby make new interpretations possible. My inspiration comes from life in general, music, street art and the world of today. ” - Glenn Moust

“My current body of work focuses on psychological themes which depict innocence (either in children or adults) contrasted against a backdrop of chaos, destruction or obscure imagery which, in one way, relates to my past memories and present self awareness. I collect images from many sources: vintage photos/illustrations from children and family magazines and books, various film stills, old family photos and my own photographs as well. I spend weeks and sometimes months combining, arranging and deciphering hundreds of images which are an attempt to unravel a specific feeling I have about each piece. It’s a process of discovery which leads me to create a type of personal symbolism using familiar imagery.” - Michael Paige Glover
